Poor older citizens will receive a pension six months in advance to help them meet their needs against the continuing threat of Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19).
In a video message, Francisco Dathol Jr. of the Pensioners' Party said it would be possible to claim an early pension in the near future, along with deferred benefits for pensioners until 2019.
"Yung ating kahilingan tungkol sa naantalang social pension ng 2019 ay ida-download na ng DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development) para yung mga senior citizen ay matanggap na yung mga hinihintay nilang pension noon pang 2019," he said.
"In the pagkatapo, jung avan ng budget ng 2020, ani buwan ang hintayin nilang, pagsasabayin ng DSWD," he said. Ito ai mga kahalingin ko na natupad na," he added.
Poor older people receive a monthly social pension of P500.
Last year, Datol asked DSWD why many recipients have not received their pensions since 2019. The department said the database of pensioners has been checked by order of President Rodrigo Duterte.
This year, 3,796,791 poor pensioners were to receive their pensions.
Datol urged the elderly to stay at home and wait for help.
"Marami Pang Biya ang tangapin niyo dahil alam in Pangulo, Pamahalaan, Mga Departmento gobirno na ang natin sector is the most vulnerable sector in Lipunan," he said.
"Kaya nga, with sand, magkhintai kayo u yung mga pensioner in Hindi padapuan padapuan mga biya, i-text leng ninho sa congreso via email. Tandaan niyo, mabibiyayaan ang hindi pa nabibiyayaan," he added.
